Rotary Supports MABAC Running League

The Cranleigh Rotary Club has once again assisted the MABAC Running League in the organisation of their very popular local event, held this year on 25 March.

Rotarians were invited to assist initially by providing catering for the runners when they completed their runs.

This year, we also provided assistance with registration of the 700 runners at the Band Room, provided bananas that had generously been donated by the Co-Op, and then served tea, coffee and homemade cakes, together with cakes supplied by Celebration Cakes, to the exhausted participants.

Thanks are due to the members and wives, partners and friends who helped with the preparation and serving of the refreshments, washing upMABAC 2018 (2) and clearing up after the event, together with those hardy souls who turned up at the crack of dawn to help with the registration.

We raised in the order of £1,280 from our efforts, which will boost the club's Charity Fund.

The MABAC Running League arranges a series of races throughout the year, particularly aimed at the fun runner. Most are cross country events held on Sunday mornings in some beautiful parts of the Surrey countryside, and they are very popular with club members and guests. (See www.mabac.org.uk )

The Cranleigh event's course consisted of a 9 mile loop and a 6 mile loop, with the option on the day of running the 6 mile loop twice for a total of 21 miles.
