Rotary Quiz Success 2023

Our Annual Quiz on 21 April in the Village Hall was another resounding success, with almost 100 participants in 19 teams.

The winners were Witley Wonderers, narrowly beating two runners-up, Razor Sharp and Generally Knowledgeable.

As usual, there were eight rounds of general knowledge questions covering a wide range of themes, such as Coronation, Nursery Rhymes and Famous Johns, as well as a Picture Quiz (dog-based), and the infamous Dingbats quiz which calls for a very considerable degree of lateral thinking !

In addition to about three hours of entertainment, the evening generated almost £900 from the quiz entry fees, plus a contribution from the raffle.

Raffle prizes were generously donated by the following: Rawlings of Cranleigh; Moooh! Ice Cream; Cranleigh Art Centre; Taurus Wines, COOK Cranleigh; and Jayne Hall/Andrea Kolmar.

The money raised will, in due course, be donated to local community-based charities.

This ever-popular event was made possible by strong support from more than a dozen Rotary members, both before and during the event - particularly Andrew Kolmar, who attracted a virtual maximum number of teams, and the Woodford family, with Jack playing a crucial role in both creating and bravely fulfilling the role of Quiz Master.
