Rotary Sponsors Young Leader Course Again
On 29 September, Cranleigh Rotary had the pleasure of a presentation by Lucy and Sam, who had been sponsored by the Club and spoke of their experiences when participating in Rotary’s Youth Leadership Award (RYLA).
RYLA is held each year at High Ashurst Outdoor Centre, situated on Box Hill. Also in attendance were the mothers of Lucy and Sam, who were thrilled and proud to hear what they had achieved during six very intense days, when they experienced activities designed to improve their self confidence and leadership skills.
Each year Cranleigh Rotary sponsors two local young people, one boy and one girl, to attend the leadership development programme organised by the Rotary District.
The course lasts from a Sunday afternoon until the following Friday evening. Activities include an assault course, orienteering, all day map reading walk, problem solving, aqua sports, a raft building challenge and many more. On the final evening a Gala is held to which parents of the participants are invited to attend.
