Rotary Refreshes MABAC Runners

This year's MABAC Run in Cranleigh took place on Sunday, 31 March. The day dawned overcast and rather chilly, very different from the preceding warm, sunny Spring days. The runners completing their races later in the morning were, therefore, very grateful to find hot tea, coffee and a multitude of delicious cakes provided for them by members of Cranleigh Rotary Club.

The refreshments were free, but donations were accepted on behalf of local charities and these raised the grand total of £378. A further £1,000 was donated by the MABAC Running League.

In addition, Lynda McDermott, who is one of the local Trustees of the Co-Op in Cranleigh, provided boxes of bananas that were distributed free of charge, as part of the Co-Op's local community services.

"Thanks must go to everyone who provided their time, energy and cakes in order to contribute to the success of the day," said Rotarian Teresa Golden.

The MABAC Running League arranges a series of races throughout the year, aimed particularly at the fun runner. Most of them are cross country events which are held on Sunday mornings in some beautiful parts of the Surrey countryside, and they are very popular with club members and guests.
