Return Concert by London Welsh Rugby Choir

London Welsh concert poster Sept 2022In front of yet another sell-out audience, the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir returned to Cranleigh Arts Centre on the 3rd September.

From the opening singing by the twenty-five strong choir of four traditional Welsh songs it was clear the audience were in for an evening of quality choral music. As in the choir's 2021 performance at the Arts Centre, the programme included a mix of songs spanning several genres.

At this concert, in addition to the choir, the classical guitarist Fiona Harrison entertained the audience in both halves of the concert with traditional Spanish guitar solos.

The concert was hosted by a member of the choir and the performance was conducted by their Music Director, Michael Wyn Jones. Michael has worked and sung with several national and international vocal ensembles, and he was also the man who held the baton in conducting the choir at the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012.

After the choir’s opening songs in Welsh, they sang a selection of well-known choral and traditional songs, including: The Drinking Song, Hava Nagila, Speed Your Journey and Calon Lan

The concert was generously sponsored by Cranleigh Distribution Services Ltd, Lynn Murray & Co. solicitors, plus two anonymous sponsors.

As a result of the concert the Cranleigh Rotary Charity Fund benefited to the sum of just over £1000.
