New! Rotary and the Great Get Together

Cranleigh Rotary was one of the exhibitors at the first village Great Get Together, which was held at the Arts Centre on Sunday, 23 June, 10 am - 2 pm.

Great Get Together June2019

Rotarians Patrick Leake and Gail Woodford (see photo) represented the Club and spent a very enjoyable few hours meeting a lot of people who were keen to learn about Rotary.

"We decided that we should take every opportunity to highlight Rotary membership, " said Patrick, "so we booked two tables and displayed Rotary literature and advertising material, as well as playing a continuous video about Rotary membership. We had a number of membership enquiries and two possible Business Partner applications."

Gail said, "We were able to dispel some of the myths - no, we are not the same as freemasons, no Rotary is not just for retired professional men, nor is it simply a supper club. Yes women can be Rotarians, and we have a variety of memberships with varying levels of commitment in time and financial.

"We were treated to coffee and lots of delicious cake provided by the Arts Centre. It was great to see our friend Sam from Jigsaw School, who had given us a wonderful talk earlier in the year, on the table next to us....and we also caught up with Rotary's friends at Cranleigh in Bloom and Rowleys, who also had stands/tables at the community-spirited event.

"Andrea Bamford from Cranleigh Rocks even painted a rock for Cranleigh Rotary, which we will varnish and hide in the village soon.....something to look out for!"
