Helping Young People

One of the key activities backed by Cranleigh Rotary is support for young people and schools in the local community.

Each year, around Easter time, the Club sponsors two teenagers to attend a week-long Rotary Young Leaders (RYLA) course. This year's attendees, Amy Bickmore and Matthew Large, recently gave an illustrated talk to Club members about their experiences during the week. Like previous participants, they spoke of how RYLA helped to develop their leadership and team building skills, as well as make new friends. They were then presented with certificates by Club President Richard Kenyon (see photos).

The Club also pays for a group of youngsters with special educational needs to attend the Kids Out day at Chessington World of Adventures.

This year, the Club took a party of 12 children and their carers from Jigsaw Special School on Wednesday 12 June, where they enjoyed seeing giraffes and hippos during a safari ride and travelled on the Gruffalo river ride, as well as other rides.
