Quiz Night and Cranleigh in Bloom

The annual Rotary Quiz Night, organised by the Rotary Club of Cranleigh, took place in Cranleigh Village Hall on 25th April. This year’s winners were 'Angel Voices', a team made up of members of St Nicolas Church choir. Second equal were ‘The Brown Bunnies’ and ‘Oliver’s Army’.

Twenty teams entered the competition this year and some £800 were raised to support the ‘Cranleigh In Bloom’ initiative.

“As always, there was a tremendous atmosphere and we are very pleased this year to provide funds that will help towards the success of ‘Cranleigh In Bloom’, said David Gill, President of the Rotary Club of Cranleigh.

Meanwhile, Cranleigh Rotarians, staff from the Co-Op, U3A gardening members and the Cranleigh In Bloom team, together with Jane Bowden from the Waverley Borough Council, have recently planted over 200 roses and lavender plants near the village War Memorial.

“Although the weather wasn’t sunny and warm, the atmosphere and the community spirit were certainly sunny and warm!,” said Rotarian Jane O’Leary. “All those taking part admitted to a strain on the back after three hours, but the sense of achievement and knowing the plants and flowers will be most appreciated by the community of Cranleigh, made it all worthwhile.”

Cranleigh In Bloom hanging baskets will be available to purchase at the Spring Into Cranleigh event on Saturday, 3 May, to ensure that the High Street will look wonderful for the judging day in early July.
