Fundraising Success, April-May 2010

The Rotary Club of Cranleigh raised some £800 for charity in April and May 2010. 11 teams entered the annual Rotary Quiz, resulting in one of the closest competitions ever. 'The Wets' from Cranleigh Baptist Church finally won after 15 years of entering the quiz. Second equal, only one point behind, were 'Histrionics' from the Cranleigh History Society, who were attempting to defend their title, and 'The Trivial Pursuers'.

The event raised over £300, which will be put towards the costs of sending disadvantaged youngsters to a special Kids Out day at Chessington World of Adventure. Rotarian Andy Kolmar did a great job as questionmaster and Malcolm Keeping was the scorer.

The ever popular Rotary Sale, also held in Cranleigh Village Hall, featured books, clothes, toys, furniture, bric-a-brac and lots more. Usually held in January, but postponed this year due to the weather conditions , many bargains were available, all of which were kindly donated by local people. Almost £500 was raised for local charities, as well as other national and international causes supported by the Club.
