Rotary Backs Basketball Club

Basketball enthusiasts are benefiting from the commitment of the Rotary Club of Cranleigh to support the local community. The Cranleigh Basketball Club was established 18 months ago by Jan Hagen. Thanks to his enthusiastic work as club organiser and coach, the number of members of the basketball club has risen to 32. He is now looking forward to the time when the young men from schools around Cranleigh will be able to join the Surrey Central Venue League for under-16s. However, there was a shortage of funds for essential equipment, so Jan appealed for help to the Rotary Club.

“We were delighted to able to help Jan and the club by providing the money for 20 bibs and two match balls,” said Michael Hart, President of Cranleigh Rotary Club. “This is an exciting team-building project for young people and we wish them well for the future.”

The basketball club meets for training every Wednesday evening in the sports centre at Cranleigh School.
